Welcome to the School of Rock Mamaroneck Summer Camp! Grunge is a
sub-genre of alternative rock that emerged during the mid-1980s.
Inspired by hardcore punk and heavy metal, grunge is generally
characterized by heavily distorted electric guitars, contrasting song
dynamics, "growling" vocals and apathetic or angst-filled lyrics. The
grunge aesthetic is stripped-down compared with other forms of rock
music.
This camp will feature the heavy hitters of the grunge era including
Nirvana, Mudhoney, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains and more!
Ages 8-16 years old.
Experience Necessary: Campers should have at least 6 months experience
in guitar, bass, piano/keys, drums or voice lessons leading up to camp.
All guitar & bass students, have them bring their instrument to camp. Drum students just should bring a pair of drum sticks. Vocals and keys are good to go, as is. Packed lunch for each day, except on Friday we will be ordering pizza for them.
Friday at the end of camp at 3pm, the kids will perform the set that they have learned and put together within the 5 days. Show will be around 30-40 minutes or so depending how many songs they get finished and ready to go. Please feel free to invite anyone that you'd like to come!
